Dawn Barnard is a Senior Controller bringing over 25 years of accounting and consulting experience across multiple industries. Her passion for nonprofit accounting has given her a wide range of experience in foundation, university, and other grant-supported NGOs as well as nonprofit auditing and tax preparation services. Her passion is to partner with her clients to build efficiencies in their day-to-day processes, to give clear reporting, and to provide analysis to her clients to assist their decision making.
She is responsible for the preparation of financial statements, analysis of financial statement variances, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, federal and non-federal grant reporting and compliance, and indirect cost rate calculations. She is involved in the audit and tax preparation of her clients, as well as the development and enforcement of relevant internal controls.
Dawn is a licensed CPA in the states of Virginia and North Carolina. She previously served on the Virginia Society of CPA’s Board of Directors and served as the Virginia Society of CPA’s Audit Committee Chair. She earned her B.A. in Accounting from Converse University.
In her personal time, Dawn enjoys shopping at the local farmers markets to create meals to share with family and friends. She also enjoys nature photography and watercolor painting.
